JOURNEYS TO SCHOOL : NEW YORK

Santiago Munoz, 14, rides the A train through Brooklyn on January 30th, 2013. Munoz, a freshman at the Bronx High School of Science, commutes over two hours in each direction on public transportation in a series of buses and trains from his home in Far Rockaway, Queens, to reach the renown magnet school. UNESCO, TRANSDEV and SIPA PRESS have pooled their talents in partnership to create a photo exhibition dedicated to the children around the world who face real challenges in making their daily journey to school, sometimes at great personal risk, in the hope that their education will lead to a better life./Credit:DERBALLA BRYAN/SIPA/1306060942
